Dr. Taylor has been practicing medicine and surgery for three decades.

Dr. Taylor has held academic appointments at The University of Nebraska, The University of Texas, Case Western University, Louisiana State University Hospitals, and Loma Linda University, where he has spent the majority of his professional career involved in the education and training of surgical residents.

Dr. Taylor received his bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University, his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from The University of Missouri, Kansas City, and his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Northeastern Ohio University. He received his General Surgery training at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio and completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Dr. Taylor founded the Institute of Facial Surgery in Bismarck, North Dakota, in 1986 and the Surgical Arts Centre in Missoula, Montana, in 1996. Currently, Dr. Taylor maintains practices in Facial Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery  in Missoula, Montana, as well as Palm Springs, California. He is also the Founder and Director of Surgical Sleep Solutions, an entity dedicated to the innovative sleep apnea procedure that allows many patients to sleep without the aid of a CPAP device.

Dr. Taylor has authored numerous textbook chapters and articles in the scientific surgical literature, and is an internationally recognized lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as Facial Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Taylor has presented before numerous national and international professional meetings on the subjects of facial cosmetic surgery, facial injuries, permanent tooth replacement with dental implants, and the surgical correction of congenital and acquired facial deformities.

Dr. Taylor has presented his techniques and results to professional audiences from five continents and has been a frequent guest surgeon at continuing education programs throughout the United States. In addition, he has appeared on nationally syndicated television programs including Dateline NBC, the Oprah Winfrey Show, and as a guest of Dianne Sawyer on an installment of ABC’s 20/20 focusing on cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Taylor has been actively involved with the teaching of residents and postgraduate training fellows in the field of maxillofacial surgery as well as facial cosmetic surgery. Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Taylor has maintained active academic appointments at major teaching hospitals where he provides training and continuing education for a variety of surgical specialties.

Dr. Taylor is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and has served as an examiner for both Specialty Boards. In January 2003, he was elected President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery at The Academy’s 19th Annual Scientific Meeting.

In addition to helping patients at his surgical center with their healthcare needs, he also participates in charity and pro bono work, including helping children born with with congenital deformities such as cleft lips and cleft palates.

Dr. Taylor treats patients and continues to educate physicians through his practices in Missoula, Montana, and Palm Desert, California. A husband and father of two children, Dr. Taylor enjoys the amenities of Montana with interests in skiing, cycling, and fly-fishing.  A former professional performing artist, he maintains an active interest in music, specifically the jazz genre, as well as the arts and literature.
