Many people come to the Surgical Arts Centre knowing how they want to look and feel, but not knowing about the specific procedures that might be best for their wants and needs. For example, a large number of people enter into a consultation wishing to look younger, less tired, and more alert, but they aren’t sure how to reach that goal. Relatedly, many people may request a “facelift” not knowing that there are a number of related cosmetic procedures for the face that can be combined for the best results.
Bigger, Brighter, Vibrant Eyes
The eyes are truly the focal point of the face: they convey your emotions, connect you with others, and show your spirit and life. It is no surprise that focusing your cosmetic efforts on your eyes is one of the best and easiest ways to get the look you want. Both men and women who are looking to look younger find that procedures involving the forehead, brow, and eyes are the most effective for achieving a more youthful look in a subtle but significant way. Most commonly, two surgical cosmetic procedures are paired together to achieve this look:
Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty). This simple surgery can focus on your upper lids, your lower lids, or both. Upper eyelid surgery removes excess sagging skin from above your eyes, making them look larger and less tired (and sometimes, in more extreme cases, improving your vision). Lower eyelid surgery can reduce bags, discoloration, and sagging, making you look less tired and more youthful. In both cases, incisions are made so that they are hidden by the natural creases near your eyes.
Browlift surgery (also known as a forehead lift). This surgery lifts the skin of the forehead, reducing forehead wrinkles and moving up the position of your eyebrows. While there are several techniques for executing a browlift, the goal and result is the same: a more alert looking expression, larger, brighter, eyes, and a smoother more youthful forehead. Both horizontal and vertical lines on the forehead can leave us looking tired, worried, or stressed even when we are not–browlift surgery can help you match your appearance to how you are actually feeling.
Pairing Cosmetic Surgeries
The pairing of cosmetic surgeries must be done carefully and thoughtfully. In many cases, pairing an eyelid surgery and a browlift surgery is a good strategy: the procedures take place very near to each other, neither takes a considerable amount of time for the surgeon, and the patient can recover from both at the same time instead of missing work or other obligations two different times. In addition, the two surgeries work to make you look more youthful and more alert in different ways, producing a result that is often more dramatic (although still subtle) than if a person chose only one operation.
