Blepharoplasty | Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty does more than remove sagging from around your eyes. It makes your face look younger, more energized, brighter, and less tired.

Eyelid surgery is an effective way to take years off of your appearance – simply by altering the skin around your eyes, you can show more of your personality and vitality. Sagging eyelids, wrinkles, and puffy bags can make you look tired, run-down, and older than your years. Blepharoplasty is designed to make subtle changes to your eyelids and eye area that simply do your eyes justice and restore a more youthful look.

The Procedure & After Surgery

You may receive eyelid surgery on your upper eyelids, your lower eyelids, or both, depending on your wishes and your doctor’s recommendation. Before the procedure, your doctor will examine your eyelids, ask about your medical history, answer your questions, and decide upon an appropriate treatment plan.

During the procedure, your surgeon will make small incisions in order to remove excess skin and fat from the area – these incisions will be hidden by the natural folds in your eyelids or made on the inside of your eyelid. Local anesthetic is used to prevent pain or discomfort. Depending on the details of your surgery, the operation should take around an hour.

After the surgery, your eyes will need several weeks to heal completely and most patients will need to limit their activities. Swelling and redness are common, but should resolve over time. Blepharoplasty is an out-patient surgery and you may return to your home to finish your recovery on the same day as the procedure. You will need someone to drive you home after the procedure, and we recommend you have someone stay with you that night. You will be able to see the final results of your procedure as the swelling subsides.

Because we are an accredited surgical center, both your operation and recovery will take place in-house at the Surgical Arts Centre, where you will enjoy privacy as well as the expert care of our nursing staff.
