Neck Lifts | Surgical Arts Centre

Many people have a daily skincare routine for their face but neglect their neck. The result is that your neck may age more quickly – and make you appear older than your years or older than how you feel.

- Dr. Taylor -

The skin on your neck has likely endured more damage than your face over the years – neck skin is constantly battling gravity and the elements, while it is often forgotten when it comes to sunscreen and lotion. As your skin ages and loses elasticity, the problem worsens. In some cases, even the relatively young can suffer from sagging skin, jowls, double chins, turkey wattle neck, and excess neck fat. These issues can make you look significantly older and heavier – affecting your self-esteem and your confidence in addition to your appearance.

The Procedure & After Surgery

A neck lift procedure consists of three possible actions: removing and tightening skin on the neck, removing excess fat from the neck area, and reconstructing the neck’s underlying muscles. The aspects of the procedure that you will receive depends on your needs, your doctor’s opinion, and whether you are an ideal candidate.

Before the procedure, your doctor will discuss the operation with you, develop a treatment plan, and decide upon either general anesthesia or local anesthesia (paired with a sedative).

During the procedure, the doctor will make small incisions in discrete locations, such as behind your ears or under your chin. He or she will use these incisions to tighten and improve the overall appearance of your neck, remove fat, and perhaps remove or tighten muscle. The procedure itself will last between one and three hours, depending upon the complexity of the operation.

After the procedure, the patient will be brought into a recovery room and then allowed to return to their home to continue healing later that day. Because we are an accredited surgical center, all steps of the process, including the surgery, take place in one private and safe location.
