PRP Facial | Surgical Arts Centre

It’s amazing science. As we age and our tissues degenerate, we can help our own tissue regenerate itself. Regeneration of tissue is truly the medicine of the future.

The Power of Platelet-Rich Plasma On Non-Invasive Facial Treatments

The PRP Facial is a new cosmetic procedure that pair minimally invasive microneedling with two platelet-rich plasma (PRP) applications that boost results as well as healing. This procedure can help those who wish to minimize the appearance of:

  • Sun damage.
  • Brown spots, sun spots, and color inconsistencies.
  • Redness.
  • Rough skin.
  • Fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Sagging skin and loss of elasticity.
  • Aging skin.
  • Acne scarring.
  • Large pores.

The Benefits Of The Vampire Facial

Why would you choose a PRP Facial over other cosmetic facial treatments that correct sun damage and boost aging skin? Here are a few reasons that patients select this procedure over others:

  • Less invasive than ablative procedures. It’s no secret that invasive cosmetic facial procedures can have the most noticeable results, but some patients are looking for options that are less drastic, less involved, with a better price tag, and with more subtle changes.
  • Better recovery time than most procedures. Because the procedure is minimally invasive, it has a shorter recovery time than procedures that involve ablative lasers or a scalpel. In addition, the use of PRP on the face during the procedure boosts the healing capabilities of the skin.
  • Low risk of serious side effects and complications. Because this procedure uses plasma extracted from the patient’s own blood, there is little chance that a person will have an adverse reaction to the treatment. While some side effects, such as swelling or redness, may occur, serious side effects are extremely rare.
  • Better overall results than laser light treatments alone. PRP facials simply end in better results than non-invasive treatments that are not used in conjunction with PRP treatments, which promote the growth of new tissue and boost cell production.

Understanding The Procedure & Your Experience

After an initial consultation, your facial will only take the time of a doctor’s appointment, and is overseen by a medical doctor trained in the procedure.

There are three main steps:

  1. We draw a vial of blood and process it in order to extract the platelets for use on your skin.
  2. We treat your face with the extracted PRP and follow it with a microneedling procedure, which drives the PRP into the skin. This step will help eliminate signs of aging and encourage your epidermis to regenerate.
  3. We then apply the PRP, which contains growth factors and promotes healing, to you face again. These growth factors help new cells develop and form new deposits of collagen.

Recovery & Results

The majority of the swelling and redness related to the procedure will go away within 24 hours, with the small amount of remaining swelling and redness leaving in the following 2-3 days. You will see some results within days of your procedure, but the full results of your facial will not appear until 3-6 months afterwards, as your body responds to the PRP and generates new cells and collagen.

The PRP has long-term results, but it cannot stop the aging process. Caring for your skin after the procedure (using moisturizer and protecting it from the sun) can extend the results of your facial. Talk to your doctor about your own skincare goals to learn if this facial could be right for you, or whether it should be part of a more extensive treatment plan.
